Activity Center update page

We see the Activity Center to be a tool to reach out to the community so that people who are far from God may be drawn closer to Him in Christ Jesus.

Timeline of Planning Events:

March 2009: Congregation-wide focus groups developed Activity
Center program of spaces.
Fall 2009: Architectural master plan and schematic drawings for
Activity Center developed.
March 2010: Congregation voted to proceed with Activity Center
building phase.
May 2010: Application submitted to Duke Endowment for $150,000
rural church grant –application continues to be “in process” with an
anticipated approval date in 2012-2013.
Spring 2011: Capital Campaign begins.

Activity Center update April 27, 2011

Budget:

Loans for all previous building projects were paid in full as of December 2010.

Activity Center construction cost: $1,100,000.
Anticipated reduction by grants & gifts: <$180,000>
Anticipated reduction by volunteer labor & donations: <$275,000>
Anticipated funds needed from Capital Campaign: $645,000
Design related costs: $ 68,500

Congregational Participation:

“Equal Sacrifice, not Equal Giving” If you are asked to participate on a committee or subcommittee, please consider volunteering your time and talents.

All congregants will be asked to prayerfully consider a financial pledge to pay for the construction related expense of the new building.

When construction draws near, prayerfully consider donations of labor and material as well as participation through prayer and support.
