Deuteronomy 6:5-9 Love the LORD your God with all your
heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These
commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress
them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you
walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as
symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the
doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
Parents. God has given you
the primary responsibility to teach, talk, and demonstrate to your sons
and daughters what we know in the New Testament as the Greatest
Commandment. While this incredible task sometimes seems overwhelming,
the U.M.Y.F.
Adult
leaders at Mill Grove United Methodist Church want to come along side of
you and assist you in this discipleship process.
Remember, your Children are being supervised by a dedicated group of
adult volunteers and staff members who are committed to providing a
safe, loving and God centered environment designed to encourage
spiritual growth in a commercial filled world seemingly doing its best
to undo your best efforts. We want to help!
PARENTS! We want you to
know that ...
We care about your son/daughter
- the adult leaders who are working in our Youth ministries have two
things in common. They love God and they love our students. Our men and
women leaders really enjoy being around students and have a passion to
see them grow in their relationship with Christ.
We care about you - most of our volunteers are
parents themselves and understand the incredible responsibility you face
every day as a parent. For those of us who are not yet parents, we see
how hard it is for you to raise your children in this busy and crazy
world. We are committed to bend over backwards to assist you in any way
we can.
We care about your family - we don't want a
ministry to your son/daughter, we want a ministry with your family. We
want to help your family succeed. Our goal is to create a partnership
between our ministry in the church body and your family. We desire to
lock arms and work together to honor God in all that we do. Please don’t
ever hesitate to contact Michelle if you have a concern or if your Child
is experiencing a particularly trying time. We are here to help!
WANT TO HELP? Let us know about What is going on in your student's
life. This could be as simple as giving us their extra-curricular
activity schedules to sharing praises about your students walk with
Christ with us. Or it can be as deep as sitting down and talking about
ways in which we can help you as a parent or discussing your student's
struggles and how we can help. We are here for you, no strings attached!
Come to Parent Meetings. Two or three times a year we have these
meetings to share information, get you together with other parents, get
feedback from you, and be an encouragement to your role as a parent.
We are always looking for homes to host events such as R.O.C.K. it,
Super Bowl Parties, Christmas parties, pool parties, summer Bible
studies, etc.
Please share Bible studies, books,
resources and ideas Some of the best stuff we've done with the
students have come from parents suggestions.
Loan us your . . . home, lake house or beach house for weekend
retreats or events.
Chaperone kids to events.
PRAY! We
take seriously and covet your prayers. Please keep the Youth Ministry at
Mill Grove in your prayers.
Helping out our student ministries program is
not limited to this list! If you have other ideas of how you can help
